Responsible Gambling
The honest starting point
This entire project exists because we studied the mathematics of slots — and the clearest, most consistent lesson across more than a million dollars of real bets is simple: the house edge is real, and over time it wins. Our dataset returned 95.52% overall, meaning roughly 4.5 cents of every dollar wagered was lost, on average, over the long run.
We publish this data to help people understand the odds — never to encourage more play. If slots are entertainment for you, treat them like any other paid entertainment: budgeted, limited, and walked away from when the fun stops.
Play within these principles
- Only play with money you can afford to lose. Never gamble with funds needed for essentials, and never borrow to gamble.
- Set a budget and a time limit before you start — and stick to them.
- Never chase losses. Trying to win back what you’ve lost is the single most common path to serious harm. The data does not reward it.
- Don’t gamble to escape stress, boredom, or low mood. It’s not a solution, and it tends to deepen the problem.
- Take regular breaks, and keep gambling a small part of a balanced life.
- Remember every spin is independent. There is no “due” win, no hot or cold streak you can time. Past results never change the next spin’s odds.
Warning signs it may be becoming a problem
Consider reaching out for support if you (or someone you know):
- spend more time or money gambling than intended;
- chase losses, or gamble to try to solve money problems;
- lie about or hide gambling;
- borrow money, sell things, or neglect bills to gamble;
- feel restless, anxious, or irritable when trying to cut back;
- let gambling affect work, relationships, sleep, or mental health.
If any of these feel familiar, help is free, confidential, and available right now.

Tools that help
- Self-exclusion: most licensed gambling businesses let you exclude yourself for a set period; many countries run central schemes that exclude you from multiple operators at once. Check your national regulator’s website.
- Blocking software: apps and programs (some free) can block access to gambling sites on your devices. GamCare lists options.
- Deposit and time limits: most reputable operators offer built-in limit tools — use them.
If you are in crisis
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or crisis, contact your local emergency services. In the US, you can also call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). In the UK and much of Europe, call 112.
A final word from us
We’re proud that the data behind Slot Review by Alia helps people see the true odds clearly. But knowledge of the odds is not a strategy to beat them — the edge is structural. The smartest thing our million dollars proved is that the only sure way to not lose to the house is to treat slots as entertainment with a strict budget, and to stop while it’s still fun.
